Just in case you're wondering, I am going to give you some background information on the name of my blog. Pay attention as there may be a pop quiz later in the week. About a year ago, I decided I wanted to make a doll that looked similar to the AK dolls: seen in the post below. The only problem was that I couldn't knit very well (carves and a shockingly knitted sleeve of a fairisle jumper were my complete knitting experience...) But the good news was I was an epic crocheter!!! So I embarked on a patternless, stitchmarkerless, totally crazy journey with a hook and a ball of wool I found in my Grandma's craft cupboard. That journey ended very well, with a gorgeous crocheted doll! This was sushi doll number one, sadly she was eaten by my dog. (I really wanted to stir fry him then, mmm... sweet and sour spaniel). As christmas approached, I decided I wanted to give her another go! I once again embarked on a patternless journey, but this time I was going to give the end product to my two year old cousin, Sahara. I crocheted her, put hair on her, made her felt boots, a hand sewn frilly sleeved cotton dress, a hand embroidered felt pinafore, and a little felt bucket hat! (I even made the felt myself). After all this you are probably asking, where is this famed Sushi doll, can we see her? The answer is unfortunately no. My cousin lives in NSW and I live in Melbourne, so sushi doll in a couple of hundred Kilometres away at the moment! But if Sahara comes to visit I promise I will post a photo, I might even make her my header!
